Today I was teaching Debbie the basics of macro, this being her only second attempt at macro. She got some great images and learned how to manual focus and get the settings to achieve the shots below.

Norton Bog Friday 31st May 2024
A day at Norton Bog with YouTuber Stewart Wood.
A great day of showing Stewart around my local patch at the bog. Stewart has a great knowledge of Macro photography, it was great to share techniques and knowledge out in the field. Stewart mainly used more flash style image stacking work with his Olympus micro four thirds system, whilst I went for natural light shots with a full frame Canon R5 using high speed bursts for my captures. It was interesting to see that both produced great results and to prove the results can be achieved with any system and any technique with the knowledge to capture them being the key. Another big thing with this type of work is gaining knowledge about your subject and understanding the behaviour of the subject.

Norton Bog Rugeley and Armitage Club Outing
On the 8th June 2023 I arranged a day out for members of the Rugeley and Armitage Camera Club to the area of Norton Bog, located in the area of Chasewater Country Park in Staffordshire. Thanks must also go to Margaret Beardsmore for her part in helping arranging and organising the troops! We set out to get photographic recordings of the area which is rich in flora and fauna. To add to the day we all snacked mid way through the outing at the nearby Station Cafeteria.
I’m hoping it will be a continuing project that will continue to grow over the seasons with further meet ups of the members.
